Southampton Solent University - Inventors Academy

The Inventors Academy is a 'virtual' engineering course which enables WRTI members to enrol as students of the University at a reduced cost and make use of its facilities. Benefits include:

  • Opportunity for two 30 minute meetings with product design/ specialist staff of the University.
  • Intellectual property advice.
  • Legal and marketing advice.
  • Business development and technology advice.
  • Access to IT and library facilities.
  • Student discounts.
  • Use of the University's Sports facilities and the Students' Union.

Inventors should note that Intellectual Property (IP) rights always remain with the originator and that University staff privy to confidential information are required to sign the WRTI non-disclosure agreement.

If University staff believe that a particular project may qualify for an award or grant, fees payable by the inventor may be held in abeyance until an award is won.

Subsidised membership of the Inventors Academy is available for £60 per annum (payable at enrolement) to WRTI Members who are accepted by the Academy - application form.
